Grant Williard, founder of Joulebug, previously founded and bootstrapped a
software company that was consistently innovative and profitable for over 22
years under his leadership. In 2005, when Adobe Systems Inc. acquired the
company’s technology, Grant transitioned the team to Adobe. This experience
provided him visibility and experience with one of the largest and most
respected software companies, and also reinforced him as an entrepreneur.
Grant left Adobe and began educating himself in the Behavioral, Energy, and
Climate Change Space, specifically the critical challenges that the world faces
around our energy-use behaviors. Combining mobile, knowledge, and social
interaction, JouleBug’s skilled and talented team believes it can change the
personal energy consumption game.
Grant earned his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from NC State
University in 1979 and 1987, respectively. While native North Carolinians, he and
his wife now split their time between Raleigh, NC and Sausalito, CA.
